Alcoa acquired majority stake of the Light Metal Works of Székesfehérvár (now Alcoa-Köfém Kft.) in 1993 of which it has had full ownership since 1996.

The research team of Prof. Dr. Tamás Kékesi had made a lot of investigations at the Alcoa-Köfém Kft. in various fields in the past few years.

At present four manufacturing branches are parts of Alcoa-Köfém Ltd. in Hungary: the Alcoa Global Commercial Transportation, Industrial and Specialties (GCTIS), combining Casthause and Flat Rolled Products, Alcoa Wheel and Transportation Products (AWTP), Alcoa Fastening Systems (AFS), and Alcoa Power and Propulsion (APP) Howmet castings. Alcoa has also deployed its global service center in Hungary covering European and some North-American Financial and Administrative issues. Alcoa has not only invested in Hungary, deployed its state-of-the-art technologies, production and management systems, but also implanted its CSR conduct, its commitment to sustainable development, which is the fundamental philosophy of the corporation business culture, and practice. The objective of improving manufacturing performance and efficiency is combined with its commitment to environment consciousness, solidarity toward society, local communities, strict adherence to Alcoa global safety and health protection norms in the workshops, and conducting ethical relations with its partners. Alcoa in Hungary for its CSR conduct and philanthropy has received numerous national and local awards commensurate with its respective performance.
